How to create a seasonal maze activity
Seasonal design works best when the maze remains the primary task and the decorative theme provides context rather than visual noise.
Start with a reusable activity goal
Write a short start-to-finish prompt that makes sense without extra explanation. The seasonal characters should reinforce that goal.
Protect path contrast
Keep decorations outside important maze paths and test in grayscale. A page should remain playable on an ordinary black-and-white printer.
Separate evergreen and dated versions
If a page includes a year or event date, store it as a distinct edition. Keep an evergreen version available for future reuse and updates.

- Keep decorative art away from path intersections
- Test the page in grayscale
- Check that the activity prompt is self-contained
- Label dated editions clearly
